On this week's Episode title "Training Camp", XIII follows the trail of his identity to a paramilitary training camp in the Pacific Northwest named Bitterroot where he supposedly trained. As XIII tries to discover the nature of the secret mission he was being trained for, he runs afoul of the camp’s owner, Rech.

XIII is the story of a man’s quest to uncover the truth about his identity. Named for the Roman numeral tattooed on his neck, XIII is a former secret operative who cannot remember his past. Hunted by a dark anti-government organization, XIII searches for clues that will lead him to who he is, and to the secret he carries that makes him so valuable—and so potentially dangerous.

XIII: The Series is a Franco-Canadian TV series that premiered in April 2011 in France and Canada which is based on the Belgian comic book series, originally by Jean Van Hamme and William Vance, and the game of the same title. The series revolves around an amnesiac protagonist who seeks to discover his concealed past. The series features many of the cast and crew who worked on the 2008 TV mini-series, XIII: The Conspiracy, as it was also produced by Prodigy Pictures and Cipango. The first season of XIII consists of 13 episodes.

After a period of some uncertainty, a Twitter announcement on December 11, 2011 by Stuart Townsend, the actor who plays "XIII", stated the series was renewed for a second season. It further states the show will undergo "a major retooling, taking the show in a new direction". Filming began in February 13, 2012, in Toronto, Canada. The second season premiere will be written by Roger Avary. This has been due to high ratings and demands by the show's fanbase.

Stuart Townsend as "XIII" - An infamous, skilled and lethal secret agent and independent contractor of the United States Government who, after suffering brain-damage during the Roman Numeral Conspiracy Mission, has lost all memories of his identity. Two years following the events of the mini-series, XIII, having been imprisoned in a Romania black site, has an escape arranged by forces loyal to Wally Sheridan, and he forms a workable arrangement with President Ben Carrington and other elements of the government to track down the Renelco information weapon - a very dangerous piece of software capable of universal access to all technology - and retrieve it; all in the hopes of uncovering his true identity. Eventually he discovers his identity as a former CIA special ops agent, raised under the name Ryan Flay; as well as his true name at birth Jason Peter Mullway; son of a deceased CIA agent, Sean Mullway.

Shaw Media (then still known as Canwest) announced on 9 July 2010 the new dramas Blackstone, Endgame, King, and XIII would be produced for the 2010-11 season and that Combat Hospital would be produced for the 2011-12 season in addition to the already announced series Shattered and Lost Girl. Along with four comedies and three pilot movies it made for the largest order for scripted original programming that Canwest had ever done. Production on XIII began on 13 September 2010 with filming in and around Toronto, including Barber Mill, Georgetown, Ontario. Portions of XIII were also filmed in Paris. Gil Grant is the showrunner of the series.
