Previously on Ultimate Spider-Man Season 1 Episode 15 "For Your Eye Only", When the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier is taken over by an evil super army, Spider-Man finds himself without help against the forces of Scorpio and Zodiac.
On this week's Episode title "The Attack of the Beetle", Spider-Man is put on a S.H.I.E.L.D. security detail to protect his worst critic, J. Jonah Jameson, from a high tech enemy. But things get personal for Spidey when he must also save Mary Jane from The Beetle.
"Ultimate Spider-Man" will be a unique journey exploring our favorite web-slinger as he teams up with other fan favorite Marvel Super Heroes in never before seen stories with a new life filled with great challenges, new friends, intense action and character growth. Ultimate Spider-Man will tell a coming of age story, where hapless Peter Parker evolves from a naive teen hotshot to a true hero who comes to terms with his origins and abilities. As the storyline begins, Peter Parker has been Spider-Man for just one year. He has fought villains, saved lives, but still has much to learn about being a super-hero. Now, Nick Fury gives Peter the chance to go to the next level to train to be a real super-hero and become The Ultimate Spider-Man. But before he can do that, Peter will have to learn how to work with a team of fellow teenage super-heroes. Along the way, he will have to navigate challenging relationships with mentors and super-colleagues, and emerge with a better understanding of his parents' legacy and his own destiny.
Ultimate Spider-Man is an American animated television series based on the superhero Spider-Man comics, published by Marvel Comics, including some elements of Marvel's Ultimate line of books. The series is written by Brian Bendis (who also writes the comic book series Ultimate Spider-Man), Paul Dini, and Man of Action (a group consisting of Steven T. Seagle, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, and Duncan Rouleau).
Brian Michael Bendis and Paul Dini will be serving as writers and producers on the show. Man of Action (a group consisting of Steven T. Seagle, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, and Duncan Rouleau), the creators of the animated series Ben 10 and Generator Rex, will be serving as supervising producers on the show. 26 episodes have been ordered for the first season. According to Paul Dini, this series will have a "redefined" Peter Parker. He further stated that the series will have Spider-Man guest-starring with different characters and will be partially based on Bendis' comics while the rest will be original material, such as the origins of some heroes and villains. Actor J. K. Simmons has confirmed that he will reprise his role as J. Jonah Jameson from Sam Raimi's live-action Spider-Man film trilogy for the series. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, actor Adrian Pasdar confirmed that he would be voicing Iron Man in the series; the character was also voiced by him in Madhouse's and Marvel's Iron Man anime. In an interview with MTV, voice actor Kevin Michael Richardson announced that he would be voicing Robbie Robertson and an unnamed member of the Wrecking Crew in the series.
According to Marvel and Disney, the series depicts Spider-Man becoming the newest member of S.H.I.E.L.D. under the leadership of Nick Fury, on a team with four other teenage superheroes. Villains such as Living Laser, Venom and Doctor Doom were seen in a trailer shown at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con.
